Keeping Covers on at Night

In order for our children to stay tucked in at night, my husband decided to make the bed sideways. We now turn the flat sheet 90 degrees and tuck the top and bottom under the sides of the bed. Add a couple blankets on top and you have a perfectly made bed. Our oldest 2 love it because they slide under the sheet and no matter how often they toss and turn they stay warm. We love it because we no longer need to go to their room in the middle of the night to replace their covers.

Photo Mat Gift

This year for Christmas gifts we framed photos of the children for our family members. I bought four opening frames with white mats at the craft store and the children painted the mats. I picked washable paint that matched what the children were wearing. The children started out with brushes but ended up using their fingers and other objects for different textures and color blends.

Here is one of the finished mats.

I will warn you after our 8th mat the children were very messy but also giggly and excited to see what their artwork would look like framed around their pictures.

Since we gave all the frames as gifts I will have to see if a family member can send me a picture of what the finished product looks like on the wall.

Children Cutting Potatoes

My children love to sit at the counter with a spreading knife and cut their own potatoes when I make dinner. They get a kick out of seeing how small they can make the pieces and I don't have to worry about a finger getting wacked off.
